Our Journey, so far...

In March of 2015, our life was turned upside when I was diagnosed with a motor neuron disease, possibly ALS or Lou Gehrig's disease. In May, ALS was confirmed. Once the initial shock sank in, we decided as a family to do all we can for as long as we can.

Baseball has always been an important part of our lives so the title of this blog is very fitting. When a batter has a 3-1 count, he's looking for a pitch in the zone that he can drive. We are always looking to hit one out of the park in all we do going forward.

Living the dream...

One of my dreams in life has always been to visit as many MLB parks as I possibly could. I've had the good fortune to see games in Atlanta (Go Braves!), Houston, Arlington, St. Louis, Cincinnati, Miami, Milwaukee and both fields in Chicago. With my ALS diagnosis, I was afraid that dream would have to end there given the 2-5 year life expectancy for PALS (people with ALS). My son knew about this dream and, with the assistance of his fraternity, launched a fundraising campaign to make this life goal possible to continue. Many people have donated to the cause and, for that, I am so grateful, and several have asked about our trips we have planned for the summer. That was one of the driving forces behind starting this blog along with documenting the memories that we create along the way. We will post photos, video and details of our adventures so that friends and family can join in on our fun.

Our trip begins this week when we fly to Washington, D.C. to take in an Orioles game at Orioles Park at Camden Yards on Thursday and see Bryce Harper and the Nationals on Friday. We hope to have a little time to do some sightseeing around D.C. as well. It's going to be a busy three days but we'll try to post something once a day so check back often to see what we've been up to.

This is the first of four trips we have planned for the summer. Hopefully you can join us as we make the dream a reality. Thanks for reading.
